Seven ways back.

Not commandments. A list of what a week that belongs to you tends to contain, and why none of it is available inside a feed.

Underneath everything even hand runs there is a short list. It is not a creed and nobody will test you on it. It is closer to a description: when you look at a week that felt like yours, these are the things that were in it. When you look at a week that vanished, these are the things that were missing.

Be here

Presence over distraction. One thing at a time, in the room you are actually in. It sounds like the lowest bar imaginable until you count how many hours last week met it.

Make things

Creation over consumption. A meal, a shelf, a paragraph, a plan. The size does not matter. What matters is that something exists at the end of the day that did not exist at the start, and that your hands were involved.

Know people

Real relationships over an audience. An audience knows a version of you and wants more of it. A friend knows the actual you and lets you change. The first scales and the second does not, which is exactly why the second is the one that holds a life up.

Move

The body is not a vehicle for the brain. Walk, lift, swim, play a sport badly. The point is not fitness as a metric. The point is that you are an animal, and an animal that never moves starts thinking like a feed feels.

Play

Life is not a productivity contest. Games, jokes, pointless arguments about films, an afternoon with no output at all. Play is the first thing a fully optimised schedule deletes, and the first thing people miss without being able to name it.

Get uncomfortable

Nothing grows without friction. The cold water, the difficult conversation, the new city, the silence in a room full of strangers. Convenience removes all of it and calls the result a better life. It is a smoother life. Those are not the same thing.

Own your attention

Your attention is your life. Whoever spends it is spending you.

This is the one the other six rest on. You cannot be here, make things or know people with attention that is being spent somewhere else. Owning it does not mean guarding it like a miser. It means spending it the way you would spend anything you cared about: on purpose.

Why seven and not one

Because the fix is not a single habit. A phone in a drawer gives you an empty evening, and an empty evening loses to a full feed every time. The list is what the evening gets filled with instead. Everything we run, from a dinner to two nights off grid, is just these seven given a time and a place.
